Privacy policy

PMM Tools helps product marketers run competitive research by capturing and organizing publicly available competitor web pages. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers both the PMM Tools web app at www.pmmtools.com and the PMM Tools — Page Capture Chrome extension.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address. If you create it at checkout, we also collect your first and last name and, if you give it, your company name; we store them with your account and send them to our payment provider with your subscription, for billing. You sign in with a code or link we email to you, or with your Google account. There are no passwords: we do not ask for one, and we never receive your Google password.

Content you capture and collect. When you use PMM Tools — including the Chrome extension — to capture a page, we store that page's content (including its HTML), a screenshot of the page, and the page URL and title. When you collect URLs for later analysis, we store those URLs and the associated tab title. This content is saved to your workspace and is visible only to your account. The Chrome extension only reads page content when you explicitly click Capture or Collect, and shows an in-app consent screen the first time you sign in on a given browser, describing exactly what is collected — each account must accept it for itself before its first capture or collect.

Usage and diagnostic data. We collect basic product-analytics and error data — for example, which pages you visit within the app and which features you use — to operate and improve the product. When you use our MCP server, we record which MCP client connected, which tools it called, how long each call took, and whether it failed, in our product analytics provider, linked to your account ID, and never the contents of your requests or their results.

Billing information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider. At checkout, our payment provider also collects your billing address and, if you give one, your business tax ID. We do not store full card numbers on our servers. When a subscription starts, changes, or ends, we record its plan, status, and price (amount, currency, and billing interval) in our product analytics provider, linked to your account ID, and never card or payment details.

How the Chrome extension uses its permissions

The extension only reads page content when you explicitly click Capture, and only reads the tab's address and title when you explicitly click Collect. It does not monitor your browsing in the background. It requests these permissions:

• activeTab and scripting — to capture a screenshot and extract the content of the page you choose to capture, and to read that tab's URL and title so we can label your captures and collected URLs.
• storage — to keep you signed in and to hold URLs you have collected locally until they sync to your workspace.
• alarms — to periodically (about every five minutes) sync your locally collected URLs to your workspace.
• sidePanel — the extension interface lives in Chrome's side panel.
• host access to all sites — so capture works on whichever competitor page you choose. Content is read only when you take an action.

How we use your information

We use the information above to provide the capture, collection, and analysis features; to authenticate you and keep you signed in; to operate, secure, and improve the product; and to process billing for paid plans.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share the content you capture with other customers. We rely on a small number of service providers (subprocessors) to run PMM Tools — for example, cloud hosting and database, authentication, web-page rendering for captures, product analytics, and payment processing. These providers process data only to provide services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data storage, retention, and security

Your data is stored in managed cloud infrastructure and protected by access controls and encryption in transit and at rest. We retain your captured content and account data for as long as your account is active. When your subscription ends, you no longer have access to that content, but we keep it for 90 days so that subscribing again restores it; after that we may delete it. We keep sign-in and billing records. You can delete captured content and collected URLs from within the app; deleting your account removes your workspace data.

Your choices and rights

You can access and delete the content you have captured from within the app. To request deletion of your account and associated data, or to ask what we hold about you, contact us at the address below. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data.

Children

PMM Tools is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will revise the date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app — for example, the Chrome extension shows a versioned consent screen again whenever what it collects changes.

Takedown and abuse requests

If you run a website and want us to stop capturing it, or you want to report abuse of PMM Tools, email inquiries@pmmtools.com with the site's address.
